We first met Miriam at Shinn Park in December 2021. She had found us from a comment about Milicent Shinn on the 150 years of UC Berkeley on the online UC Alumni magazine. We were just starting with the "Lucy Letters" and hadn't learned as much as we know now.
The book will be out in the fall and we are all very excited that Milicent has a part to play in the "California Dreams."

Never heard of that building? It's going to be opening up this year. This is a portion of the mural and you can find Milicent sitting for her Overland Monthly portrait. Phoebe Hearst is sitting to her right.

The Chinese Bunkhouse Preservation Project is a sub-committee of
Mission Peak Heritage Foundation
The Nomination was approved by the State Historical Resources Commission. Read about it!
We will have some final bills to pay the architectural historian, Michael Corbett.
And there will be a new monument! Any extra funds will go toward that and our celebrations this year.

Donations helped us purchase the plans for the 1917 remodel of the Big House! Thank you, Donors!
Thanks to our generous donors, we now have nine high-quality scans of the 1917 architectural plans by California architect H.A. Minton. We were also able to print them an frame them to protect them for showing during tours.
Thank you, Janice Gonzales, Kathryn Kasch, Elizabeth Terplan, Beth Armstrong, Patty Lacy, Norma Macias, Sally and John Holmes, Victor Wong, Doug and Doris Green, Connie Chew, Caren Breschini, and Ann Zeigler.
The plans show what the house was before and after the remodel and how Minton adapted the Big House for the third generation of the Shinn family.

House Tours
House Tours
Docent-guided house tours are given during regular day/times and and upon request. Generally the house is open for tours on the first Monday and third Sunday from 1-4:00. Last tour at 3:00ish. See Facebook for changes for holidays.
Museum
Museum
The Shinn House Museum is open when the house is open and upon request for special tours. Old newsletters are archived there as well as exhibits about the Shinn family's history. Waiting for a house tour? An online Park tour is always available.
